The Canadian painter Véronique Boisvert / @ve_boisvert spent a week at the cabin, where she allowed herself to rest and create at her own pace. Her intention for this self-directed art residency was to connect with the natural elements of Nova Scotia. “I wanted to soaking up the essence of the place in order to transposing it into a new small series of paintings.” Which she did impressively.

 

Véronique’s personal mission is to embellish peoples’ lives with luminous and colourful paintings. Born and raised in Hearst, a small French-speaking town in northern Ontario, she embraces her upbringing dearly and feels like it has a great influence on her identity. Since 2016, she’s been living in a loft that she transformed into a workshop dedicated to her art, located in Quebec.

Her creative approach consists in making the imagination perceptible. Her primary source of inspiration resides in the wonder withheld in life’s’ simple pleasures and meditation. She favours both her intuition and a color superposition technique to create paintings gorged with positive energy.

 

“ When I arrived at the cabin, all my body wanted, was to rest and sleep, so I listened and allowed myself to relax until my creativity comes back.”
